Benevolent and Loyal Order of Honorable Ancient Red Sox Die Hard Sufferers of New York  since 1965

Alias: JBTipton
Date Joined: Sep 29, 2016

Became devout Red Sox fan more than fifty years ago as a Harvard undergraduate and lifelong Yankee HATER, so I came to this new affiliation naturally. It was during the Yastremski era and trips to Fenway combined nostalgia for baseball as it used to be with a fresh, exciting approach to the game by a young team. Subsequent decades living in Manhattan have only deepened my love for the Sox--and my hatred for the Yankees!

Yesterday, I had my totally delightful inauguration as a BLOHARD at your semi-annual luncheon.  This was thanks to my introduction to your ancient and honorable organization by my friend David Margolick.  As a near-lifelong NY-er and devoted Red Sox fan since my college days in Cambridge 50 years ago, I should have been one of your members long ago.  But learning that there is such a large group of wise and companionable people who share my affection for this wonderful team (and almost as importantly my lifelong hatred of the Yankees) was a total delight.  Yesterday's speakers were uniformly amusing and informative, with a song by the superb John Pizzarelli an added bonus.  The food was event quite decent.  groupeople
